Why Massage?

Massage can be relaxing, restorative, and a great way to treat yourself, but it is often so much more than that! While I can absolutely support you in your relaxation goals, I specialize in being part of treating and preventing injuries, reducing lifestyle-related pain, and supporting you as you build a healthier, more physically robust life.

What to Expect at your Appointment

My massage style is practically 100% adaptable to your needs. We will work together to build a session and ongoing treatment plan that is accessible and beneficial to you. This might mean dimming or brightening the lights, dressing more or less, choosing your own music, and always having a conversation about and getting consent for what the session will entail.

Typically, massage sessions start with a few minutes while we talk about your goals for that day. I'll leave you alone for a few minutes to get as undressed as you feel comfortable with and to get under the covers on the massage table (undergarments are optional; you will always be properly draped with sheets and never exposed).

Then I'll come back in, make sure you are comfortable and ready to begin. The body parts I massage, the length of time I spend on each area, and the modalities that I incorporate will vary depending on what you need and what you consent to.

At the end of our session, I'll leave you once more to take a few minutes in quiet relaxation, get dressed, and then meet me to discuss follow-up care and advice!

How often should I get a massage?

As much as you can!

Ok, but seriously, most of us would benefit from more massage than we are currently getting. Typically, with a new client, I will meet with you once, work with you, and then suggest a treatment protocol.

Unless you literally suffer from zero ailments, pain, or stress, I'll likely recommend you return for several sessions closer together, then gradually spread them out until we hit a frequency that

a) keeps you feeling great and uninjured

b) works for your schedule and lifestyle

c) works with your budgetary needs

My goal is ultimately for my clients to feel great most of the time and to come in as frequently or infrequently as they want to maintain that status.

Why Strength Training?

Massage is a wonderful way to reduce pain, strain, and stress, but strength is a better way to keep those things at bay in the first place.

Consider working with me to get stronger safely, using basic, tried-and-true principles grounded in science and adaptable to your ability and needs.

What is Inclusive Health?

Every body is a good body and deserves to move and feel good. My approach to personal training and monthly fitness coaching comes from a place that acknowledges you are worthy of good health right now, not in six months or when you hit a magic dress size.

Foster Performance & Recovery is queer-owned and queer-led. This is a safe space for LGBTQIA+ folks.

Additionally, sometimes we queer people have different body goals than our cis/het pals do. Building up a bigger chest pre top surgery? Whittling a waist? Minimizing hips? Let's train for body euphoria!

Why Nutrition Coaching?

Food is good, necessary, and should be delicious. Build durable habits in your nutritional approach to improve health markers, energy, capability, digestion, skin, and mood.

While weight goals can be included, we are pro-joy, anti-diet culture.

Your body deserves nourishment.
